ZBrush 2019.1 Available Now as a Free Update

ZBrush 2019

ZBrush 2019.1 is now available as a free update for all users, and Pixologic strongly recommend upgrading to this latest version as soon as possible. It includes several new features as well as a number of enhancements or fixes within both the ZBrush feature set and various plugins.

How to Update

For users with serial numbers including subscription licenses, there are three methods that you can use:

1 – Close ZBrush, then browse to its folder on your computer. Run the ZUpgrader application that you will find there. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the update.

2 – Download the updater application for either Windows or macOS. Place this application in your ZBrush 2019 folder before running it. Then simply follow the on-screen instructions.

3 – Uninstall ZBrush 2019 and delete its folder. Then log into My Licenses where you will be able to download the stand-alone ZBrush 2019.1 installer. Run that to reinstall ZBrush, then (if requested) activate it again.

For floating license users, please have your IT team submit a Support ticket with Pixologic to receive the update instructions

What’s New?

ZBrush Rendering

Non-Photorealistic Rendering (NPR)
See your 3D artwork in a whole new way with the new NPR system. Give that final 3D sculpt a hand drawn 2D style and even take your sculpted creations into the pages of a comic book. With the ability to add overlaying textures, apply a halftone printed paper style, draw a dark outline around the 3D model or apply a number of built-in presets, the new NPR system will open up an entire world of artistic possibilities.

Snapshot3D

Snapshot3D
Featuring all the original features, Snapshot3D now also makes it possible to convert any greyscale image (alpha) into a 3D model. The source images can be modified or combined through Boolean-type addition or subtraction to create even more complex 3D shapes.

ZRemesher

ZRemesher v3.0
Automatic retopology is a key component in the modern 3D artist’s workflow, which now goes to the next level with ZRemesher v3.0. The enhanced systems can maintain creased edges and automatically detect sharp surface angles, ideal for mechanical models. The result is also a more efficient final polygon count with an increase in speed.

Folders

Folders
Speed up productivity with the efficient folder system. Much more than just an organisational tool, folders also make it possible to apply actions to all contained meshed at once such as scale, rotate, move duplicate, delete, Live Boolean and more.

Universal Camera

Universal Camera
New and upgraded, artists can now precisely match the focal length of 3D renders and imported photographs with the camera tool. You can even export or import your ZBrush camera settings for use in any 3D application, which opens the path to rich 2D composited illustrations when combined with other 3D renderers like KeyShot. The Universal Camera offers complete control over focal length, crop factor and more.

Intersection Masker

Intersection Masker
Generate a mask where geometry islands intersect on a selected subtool using the Intersection Masker. The perfect solution to create complex mask in only a few clicks.

ZColor

ZColor
The ZColor plugin is the only colour manager you need for any digital painting task. Featuring a set palette of colours, you can express the mood you wish to create with consistent results. ZColor files can be shared with others, helping teams achieve a cohesive style across projects.

ZBrushCore 2018 Update Now Available

ZBrushCore 2018

An update to ZBrushCore 2018 is available now. Existing ZBrushCore users can upgrade now for free.

This ZBrushCore 2018 update includes multiple additions and enhancements. It will now become easier for newcomers to the digital sculpting world to rapidly produce models and then export it for 3D printing.

What’s New?

VDM: Vector Displacement Mesh Brushes

ZBrushCore 2018 introduces two new brushes: Chisel3D and ChiselCreature brushes. These Vector Displacement Mesh brushes allow you to sculpt with a 3D Alpha which will support overhangs or draw complex objects on the surface with a single brush stroke. Imagine being able to texture a dragon with overlapping scales or draw a fully formed ear without needing to re-sculpt it for every model.

Gizmo 3D Deformers

A new addition for ZBrushCore 2018 are the Gizmo 3D Deformers. ZBrushCore 2018 includes six of the 27 Deformers found in the full version of ZBrush. Each Deformer has a unique feature set to allow quick shape alterations that would not be possible through brush strokes.

Gizmo 3D Primitives

ZBrushCore 2018 also provides the Gizmo 3D with a unique way to rapidly design using simple geometric shapes. Artists can freely adjust the geometry that defines each shape, even after the shape has been applied to the surface. Convert a smooth cylinder to an octagon, adjust a sphere to have flat poles or change a cone into a pyramid – all in real time. Using this system, a few primitives can be turned into an entire library of sculptable shapes.

3D Text and Shape Creator

ZBrushCore 2018 comes with a complete generator for creating 3D text in real time. This makes it possible to create individual words or short phrases as editable 3D objects. You can also use an SVG file to create your own custom logo for placement on any surface.

Decimation Master

With DecimationMaster you can easily reduce the polygon count of your models in a very efficient way while intelligently analyzing the surface to keep all of its sculpted details. This solution is one of the fastest available and is able to optimize your high polycount models from ZBrushCore, allowing you to export them to your other 3D software packages. It can also reduce the polygon count for exporting into your preferred render application with no need to assign a displacement or normal map.

The slimmed down version of Decimation Master that has been added to ZBrushCore 2018 provides five new polygon count-controlled presets.

3D Print Hub

The full version of 3D Print Hub has been added to ZBrushCore 2018. This plugin offers everything you’ll need for exporting any model for 3D Printing. Find the specific size of any mesh in mm or inches. The 3D Print Hub will allow you to export an OBJ, STL or VRML file. The STL and VRML export options will also support PolyPaint color. Importing an STL file is also supported by 3D Print Hub, including any color data.

Other additions and changes:

  • Korean language support
  • Removed Polycount Limitations for STL and VRML Export
  • Export Scale Values
  • Size and Position Values
  • SmoothGroups Brush (in the LightBox Brush folder)
  • Updated Projection System in DynaMesh
  • New Licensing System Utilizing Pixologic ID Account
  • Dual Platform License (macOS and/or Windows)
