Altair: Developing a Bladeless Wind Turbine

Altair Wind Turbine

David Yáñez, Co-Founder of Vortex Bladeless has joined the line-up of speakers at the 11th Altair Technology Conference on May 21st.

Register now to see how Vortex Bladeless is reducing manufacturing costs by 53%, operating costs by 51%, and maintenance costs by as much as 80% compared to traditional wind turbines.

11th Altair Technology Conference
May 21st at the British Motor Museum, Warwickshire, UK

Vortex Bladeless is a Spanish start-up developing an innovative wind energy technology that does not rely on blades, minimising the mechanical elements in a traditional turbine that can be worn by friction.

The presentation will showcase how Altair’s solutions are being deployed to investigate both fluid-structure interaction and the behaviour of the magnetic fields in the alternator. A general vision of the technology, the strategies used for the integration of the different physical phenomena involved and the path travelled so far during its development will be discussed.

Thomas will discuss the development of nuclear flasks used to transport waste material on public roads.

The presentation will cover drop impact simulations using RADIOSS, as well as transient thermal / structural assessments of a fully engulfing pool fire. Finally, Thomas will detail the multi-disciplinary optimisation project undertaken on the flask, using the tools within HyperWorks to avoid the need to revisit the CAD model for an efficient process that avoids traditional trial and error.

Come and see this presentation firsthand at the FREE to attend Altair Technology Conference, the UK’s leading digital design event; bringing together the UK design and engineering community to network and share successful and innovative applications of new simulation technologies, taking place on 21st May at the British Motor Museum, Warwickshire, UK.

Free 60-Day Altair SIMSOLID Trial and Webinar

SIMSOLID Altair

Altair has recently announced the acquisition of SIMSOLID, simulation technology for fast, accurate, and robust structural simulation without the need for geometry simplification, cleanup, or meshing. Altair Engineering is a leading provider of enterprise-class engineering software including solidThinking Evolve and many more.

Webinar: Introduction to SIMSOLID

Wednesday November 7, 2018 | 10:00 am EST

SIMSOLID was founded from one simple question: “Why does the geometry used in the Design and Structural Simulation worlds have to be so different?

SIMSOLID is structural analysis software developed specifically for design engineers. It eliminates geometry simplification and meshing, the two most time consuming and expertise extensive tasks done in traditional FEA.

Download FREE 60-Day SIMSOLID Trial

Moreover, SIMSOLID can analyse complex parts and large assemblies not practical with traditional FEA and do it efficiently on a desktop class computer. Both fast and accurate, SIMSOLID controls solution accuracy using a unique multi-pass adaptive analysis.
