What’s New In Corona 12, Update 2

Corona 12, Update 2 is now available. This update builds on Chaos Corona 12 and Update 1 to bring some technical updates and workflow improvements that help you work smarter and faster.

A major highlight is the move of Chaos Scans into Chaos Cosmos. Over 3,100 ultra-realistic materials, including metal, leather, paper, plastic, and rubber, are now easily accessible, previewable, and usable. Corona Premium users can also edit and customise these materials to suit their projects.

What is Chaos Corona?

Chaos Corona is a high-performance photorealistic rendering engine designed for artists, designers, and architects working in 3ds Max or Cinema 4D. Built to be intuitive and powerful, it allows users to create striking visuals without complicated settings or steep learning curves. Corona delivers high-quality results straight out of the box, while still offering flexibility for those who want deeper control.

What’s New In Chaos Corona 12, Update 2?

Smarter Material Management

You can now download and import multiple objects from Chaos Cosmos at once. This saves time and keeps your focus where it belongs

Virtual Tours with Auto Hotspots

You can now create interactive, immersive virtual tours directly from the Collaboration interface. Thanks to the integration between Corona’s Virtual Frame Buffer (VFB) and Chaos Cloud, you can build panorama tours automatically. Add floor plans, personalise hotspots, and insert design elements to create richer presentations—no third-party software needed.

Sharper Textures with Differential Ray Filtering

New Differential Ray Filtering makes textures appear sharper and less blurred through refraction and some reflections. This update also prepares Corona for the upcoming Toon Shader in version 13.

Per-Camera Global Volume Override

You now have the freedom to assign different volume settings to each camera. Whether you want a misty forest or an underwater scene, you can achieve distinct moods easily by adjusting the global volume per shot.

Depth of Field in Chaos Corona 12, Update 2

Improved Depth of Field Solver

The updated Depth of Field Highlight Solver now handles reflected and some refracted highlights better. You can expect more consistent results across a wider range of scenes.

New Community-Contributed LUTs

A fresh collection of LUTs is now available, contributed by Iraban Dutta. These options help you fine-tune the mood and tone of your renders, whether you want a cinematic, natural, or stylised effect.

Faster Parsing in 3ds Max

Working with Interactive Rendering just got faster. Thanks to new parsing improvements, only changes in the scene are parsed when scrubbing through the timeline. This update also lays groundwork for the Vantage Live Link feature coming in Corona 13.

Workflow Improvements in Cinema 4D

The new Minimap in the Corona Node Material Editor makes navigation quicker and easier.
The Corona Converter in Cinema 4D now handles even more V-Ray materials and objects, including V-Ray Clipper, V-Ray Triplanar, and V-Ray Proxy.

Support for Anima 6

Corona now supports Anima 6. You can animate vehicles, crowds, and people more realistically, including handling intersections and following international traffic rules. Scenes can now feel alive with spinning wheels, chassis roll, and detailed terrain responses.

Full Compatibility with Autodesk 3ds Max 2026

Corona now fully supports 3ds Max 2026. You can use the latest 3ds Max features together with Corona’s strong photorealism and ease of use.

Better Integration with Vantage

You can now start or stop Vantage Live Link with a new button in the Corona toolbar. A progress bar also shows you the status of your scene upload to Vantage, with an option to cancel if needed.

New Downloads Section
