What’s New In Chaos Corona 13?

Corona 13 brings a fresh set of updates designed to speed up your workflow and give you more creative freedom. Whether you’re experimenting with stylised visuals or producing final renders, the latest tools help you move from concept to output with more precision and less manual work.

What is Chaos Corona?

Chaos Corona is a CPU-based 3D rendering engine designed mainly for architectural and product visualisation. It works with Autodesk 3ds Max and Maxon Cinema 4D to create photorealistic and cartoonish renders. Chaos Corona supports both biased and unbiased rendering methods, using path tracing and advanced algorithms to produce stunning images without a complex or expensive setup.

What’s New in Chaos Corona 13?

New Stylised Rendering

The new Toon Shading and Outline materials let you create non-photorealistic renders without fuss. Use them to experiment with a cartoon-style look early in your design process or keep the style throughout for a unique final output. This mode is also useful if the client hasn’t committed to materials but you want to provide renders.

  • Apply toon shading and outlines across your entire scene or limit them to specific objects.
  • Maintain complete control by using the materials independently or together.

Faster Animations with Vantage Live Link

With Vantage Live Link, you can now render 3ds Max and Cinema 4D animations much faster using GPU rendering through Chaos Vantage.

  • Supports keyframed and skeletal animations, cloth simulations, and particle effects.
  • Useful for both fast previews and final outputs.

This gives you the freedom to test quickly or deliver final animations without waiting on slow renders.

New Scatter Options

The updated Scatter tool now includes Clusters. This option groups objects into clusters based on your creative or technical needs.

Choose from three modes:

  • Generate: Create clusters based on noise calculations.
  • Colour Map: Choose which objects should appear within the different colors of your map.
  • Layer Paint: Define which objects belong to a particular layer and paint those layers directly into 3ds Max (support for Cinema 4D is coming soon).

This makes it easier to control density and placement, speeding up the process of shaping natural environments and large-scale scenes.

More Realism with Less Effort

The new Thin Film Layer helps you achieve iridescent effects without complex setups. It’s ideal for:

  • Oil slicks
  • Soap bubbles
  • Dichroic glass
  • Anodised metals
  • And so much more!

Smarter Asset Selection with Cosmos Asset Variations

Asset Variations is now available for selected 3D models in the Chaos Cosmos Library. Swap clothing styles, switch seasons, or pick the right look for your project without modifying the base asset.

Better Chaos Ecosystem Support

Corona 13 now supports importing .vrscene files from Enscape. This makes it easier for teams to collaborate and move files between tools.

  • Corona can now render Enscape scenes directly.
  • Requires V-Ray to be installed, but no active license is needed.

This update simplifies collaboration across design and visualisation teams.

More Speed!

Corona 13 brings together practical upgrades that improve both speed and creative control. From stylised looks to fast GPU animations and better asset management, these updates help you work faster without giving up quality or flexibility.
